The NY Times is running an article called Chinese and US Demand Drives Commodities Surge by Clifford Krauss. Mr Krauss is writing about how prices for items like copper, sugar, and corn have hit all time highs recently. A normal cycle would have these prices recede with the US economy. But that is the new gotcha. The global demand for these items will swallow up any lack of buying from the US. And now this creates a double whammy for the US – buying power is down but prices are still up.
