Dyslexia and Entrepreneurs
The NY Times is running an article by Brent Bowers called Tracing Business Acumen to Dyslexia. It is hitting something I heard from Daniel Pink
in a podcast I have from him – people with dyslexia develop strengths that are
often good for entrepreneurship. Those
strengths are suggested to be:
- oral communication
- delegation
- overcome a lot
- creative
- able to identify trustworthy people
- visual
Corporate managers tend to read, read, and read some more.
Here are some stats I pulled from the article:
- 10% of the US population has dyslexia
- 35% of entrepreneurs have dyslexia in the US
- 20% of entrepreneurs were found in 2001 in a British study
- 1% of corporate managers have dyslexia

- Charles Schwab – Schwab
- John Chamber – Cisco
- Paul Orfalea - Kinkos
